ASHA is a special place for all faiths

Have you dusted off the decorations, found the Advent candle, and hung the wreath on the door yet? Christmas may be just around the corner but let us remember that it’s not the only celebration taking place at this time of year. So many faiths – Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Zoroastrian to name just a few – are reflecting on what has gone before and what is to come.

The winter is a special moment for many cultures. As the days grew shorter and the sun appeared less frequently many traditions (both religious and cultural) grew up over time.

A glance at the religious holidays that take place around November and December show the overlap of festivities across cultures. From Samhain and Diwali, to lighting the menorah during Hanukkah or putting up the lights on the Christmas tree, there’s a real play on light and darkness.

ASHA is a special place for all faiths, not just one; it’s somewhere to come together, to make connections, to make friends. And that is what we’ve seen and enjoyed throughout 2023. Wishing everyone a wonderful festive season, whatever your faith, and we hope to see you in 2024.
